The story of Wirra Gamba Olives
Wirra Gamba was established in 1998 with the planning, planting and irrigating of 1700 olive trees. Two varieties of olives were planted – the first being 'Manzanillo' which produces a milder olive oil and the other being 'Frantoio' which usually produces a stronger, firey, 'grab the back of your throat' more pungent but very beautiful oil.
Fifteen years later, new owners arrived. To pay homage to the previous owners, the business name was tweaked slightly to Wirra Gamba Olives.
The grove now has just over 1500 trees which are now fully mature and require regular maintenance to keep them healthy and productive.
At harvest time, the trees are shaken using a mechanical harvester and the olives are processed within 24 hours to retain the freshness and integrity of the oil.
Not just olive oil...
To compliment our EVOO, we make 2 varieties of Dukkah perfectly suited to our oil. We make a nice and spicy variety (Magma) and a more traditional style.
As well as our EVOO, we make a selection of Castile (100% olive oil) and Bastille (Minimum 70% olive oil) soaps. Some are infused with botanicals, locally produced goat's milk and essential oils to provide stimulation to your senses.
Under our brand 'Novelty Soaps', we have a range of soaps to cater for (almost) everyone's sense of humour. These are perfect for gift packs, Christmas stocking fillers, hen's nights and many other occasions.
We make custom soaps on request including guest soaps for B and B style accommodation, or with specific ingredients when allergies are a consideration. Just send us a note via our contact page and tell us what you need.
